Susan Halbig

Susan Halbig, PT, DPT, Schroth Certified

Physical Therapist

Susan Halbig is a qualified physical therapist who trained at The University of New Mexico School of Medicine, with a BS in Exercise Physiology. Since completing her doctorate in physical therapy in 2014, she has discovered her passion for continual learning and goal of  providing conservative treatment options for those diagnosed with scoliosis in the state of New Mexico. With four years of pediatric experience and the management of her own scoliosis she is able to provide empathetic treatment that will be individualized for each client. She works together with her clients to empower and encourage self care and conservative management for their condition.  She completed her BSPTS Schroth C1 Training in 2016, and BSPTS C2 certification training in 2019.

In 2018, Susan and her husband Elliot happily welcomed their son, Milo Alexander, into their lives. Together, they all enjoy just about any outdoor activity including hiking, rock climbing, and skiing.

 

Karen Pettine

Karen Pettine, PT, DPT, Schroth Certified

Physical Therapist

Karen Pettine is a New Mexico native, University of New Mexico alumna, and bilingual in Spanish and English.  She earned her doctorate degree in physical therapy from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine in 2016.  Following the completion of her degree, Karen trained at Phoenix Children’s Hospital and Camelback Sports Medicine in Phoenix, Arizona.  She completed her BSPTS C1 and C2 Schroth certification with Dr. Hagit Berdishevsky at Hunter College in New York. Karen completed her SEAS level one (Scientific Exercise Approach to Scoliosis) in 2023.

She was first exposed to Schroth as a patient herself learning to manage her own scoliosis.  This experience led to a passion for assisting others with the management of scoliosis.  As a complement to Schroth, Karen is also dry needle certified.  She enjoys working closely with each client to help promote life long spinal health.  

In 2018, Karen and her husband Dominic introduced their daughter, Talia Grace, into the world and in 2020 their family grew again to welcome their son Luca. Her family enjoys spending time outside gardening, hiking, bike riding and skiing.

Claire Shores

Claire B. Shores, PT, DPT, Schroth Certified

Physical Therapist

Claire Shores is a native New Mexican. She graduated from the University of New Mexico with her BS in Nutrition in 2009, and completed her doctorate in physical therapy at UNM's School of Medicine in 2014. She is certified in the Schroth method for scoliosis treatment.  She has worked as a physical therapist in multiple outpatient, inpatient, and home health settings. Claire also specializes in women's health and pelvic floor rehabilitation and is CAPP certified through the American Physical Therapy Association to better help care for women with pelvic floor dysfunction. She is an advocate for pelvic health and fitness before and after pregnancy to help with common postpartum issues such as incontinece, dyspurnia (pain with sex), diastis recti, as well as other back and pelvic pain.

Claire and her husband Jon have a two year old son, Ethan, and 2 dogs, who they love to go on adventures with. Their family enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking, skiing, and mountain biking and spending as much time in the mountains as they can. Claire is grateful that she can bring her skills to serving women in New Mexico, and she looks forward to helping patients find therapeutic solutions for a happier healthier life.

 

Barbara McMahon-Crabtree

Barbara McMahon-Crabtree, PT, MPT, CFMT, CERT. DN, Schroth Certified

Physical Therapist

Barbara McMahon-Crabtree is a licensed physical therapist with a B.S. in Fitness in Human Performance from University of Houston - Clear Lake and Master’s in Physical Therapy from the University of St. Augustine in 2000.  Barbara performed a 3 year physical therapy residency program with HealthSouth and earned her CFMT (Certified Functional Manual Therapy) in 2006 and spent 3 years updating and lab assisting to re-certify with the Institute of Physical Art in 2016.  CFMT is a specialized therapy which focuses on manual therapy to improve alignment, neuromuscular control and motor patterns in efforts to optimize one’s overall function.  Barbara also earned her Dry Needling Certification and Schroth Certification in 2021.  

In her spare time, Barbara enjoys playing tennis with her husband and teenage son, hiking in the foothills with her dog and friends, and continued learning and education.

Jasmine Stromberg, PT, DPT

Physical Therapist

Jasmine Stromberg is a Doctor of Physical Therapy, born and raised in New Mexico. Jasmine received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of New Mexico in 2015, graduating with special recognition from both the program’s Faculty and the American Physical Therapy Association upon graduating.

Jasmine is excited to be apart of the incredible team at ABQ Scoliosis and Spine Therapy. She’s passionate about helping her patients become experts in understanding their own bodies and sharing with them ways to feel their best and achieve their goals.In her spare time, Jasmine loves reading (especially with a cup of coffee first thing in the morning) and going on adventures (rock climbing, snowboarding, hiking, and spa hopping) with her husband, Aaron, and their two pups.

Jasmine is also a certified Breathwork facilitator and Indoor Cycling Instructor. Jasmine completed her P1 Schroth certification in 2023.

Adam Mata, LMT

Massage Therapist

Adam is a New Mexico Licensed Massage Therapist and has been massaging for 7 years. He specializes in manual techniques to help his patients allevitate chronic pain. Over the years, he has gained the knowledge to properly incorporate deep tissue, trigger point and Myofascial modalities to his treatments. When he’s not in session, he likes being outdoor with his 3 doggos.

Julia Leonard

Office Manager

Julia graduated from San Diego State University with her Bachelor of Science in Applied Arts and Sciences in Kinesiology. She first put her skill to use working as a exercise physiologist/therapy aide for a physical therapy clinic in Arcadia, CA. She then gained experience working with insurance contracts and providers for BCBS of NM. While she is skilled in a myriad of activities, including crocheting beautiful blankets, scarves, and more, at ABQ Scoliosis & Spine Therapy we think her true talent lies in office administration and management. She helps keep our clinic running smoothly and allows us to make sure that all our wonderful patients get the best possible care.
