The Schroth Method is a specialized approach to treating scoliosis which emphasizes the three dimensional nature of the scoliotic spine. Therapists who are certified in the Schroth Method have extensive training in treating scoliosis and will be able to carefully analyze your unique curvature to create a plan of care.
- During your first appointment, your therapist will evaluate your spine and curve pattern. This may involve taking photos of your back.
- Wear comfortable clothes which allow you to move well. Women and girls should wear a sports bra or swim suit top underneath their clothing so that the therapist can see the spine clearly.
- If you have an x-ray of your spine, even if it is old, please bring pictures to your appointment. This is helpful in guiding treatment.
- After the therapist evaluates your spine and gathers information about you and your goals for therapy, they will work with you to create a plan of care.
- Your plan of care will outline how many visits you will likely need and what is expected of you in regards to exercises at home.
In short, yes. There are several key pieces of equipment which are important to allowing you to practice Schroth at home. Fortunately, these items are not expensive and we will provide you with a list of equipment at your first appointment. To make getting the equipment easier for you, we also sell the majority of the supplies you will need for Schroth at the clinic.
